Living in Korea?
If you are enrolled in Korea's National Health Insurance, you may be eligible for the national cervical cancer screening every two years. Bring your health insurance details and ask the doctor whether it can be combined with your check-up.
Bartholin cyst treatment
A Bartholin cyst forms when the small gland that keeps the vaginal opening moist becomes blocked. Fluid collects and, if bacteria get in, it can turn into a painful abscess. Common triggers include friction or injury, frequent intercourse and bacterial infection.
Signs to watch for: a swelling at the side of the vaginal opening, pain when sitting, walking or during sex, and a lump that grows as pus builds up.
Treatment: small, mildly symptomatic cysts can settle with antibiotics and warm sitz baths. For larger or recurring cysts we perform marsupialization, which keeps the gland draining so it is less likely to come back.
Marsupialization at a glance
| Anesthesia | Local (sedation available if you are sensitive to pain) |
| Technique | 1–2 cm laser incision, dissolvable stitches and a small drain |
| Time | About 10–20 minutes |
| Going home | Same day; 30–60 min of rest if sedation is used |

General gynecology questions
Can I see a gynecologist in Seongsu if I don't speak Korean?
Yes. You can ask questions and book in English on WhatsApp, and during the visit the doctor explains your examination, results and treatment options so you understand each step.
Are the gynecologists female?
Yes. All consultations and examinations are performed by a female, board-certified obstetrics and gynecology specialist and former clinical professor of OB/GYN.
How often should I have a gynecology check-up?
We recommend a pelvic ultrasound and cervical cancer screening every 6–12 months. Your doctor may suggest a different interval based on your age, history and previous results.
How long do test results take?
Ultrasound findings are explained during the visit. Lab results such as the Pap test, PCR panel and blood tests are usually ready within about one week, and the doctor goes through them with you.
When should I schedule a Pap smear?
Avoid your period. For the most reliable sample, it is generally advised to avoid intercourse, douching and vaginal medication for 1–2 days before the test.
What is the difference between check-up packages A, B and C?
Package A covers ultrasound, cervical screening and a blood and urine panel. Package B adds a 12-type PCR test for STDs and vaginal infections. Package C adds an HPV test and the CA-125 ovarian marker. An AMH ovarian reserve test can be added to any package.
Do you treat recurring yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis?
Yes. For symptoms that keep coming back, we use PCR testing to identify the exact organisms involved, so treatment is targeted rather than repeated guesswork.
